FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Question: How do I know that my contribution reaches the children?
Answer: On the homepage you can follow the development and activities of the project. As a donor to the project, you will receive a newsletter every three months with details about PADC’s progress including latest news from the project. For more information, please contact us via e-mail, or call our head office in Brazil. As a donor, it is also possible to start a mail correspondence with one of children from the Morro da Vitória favela. If this interests you, please consider giving a long-term and serious correspondence. Such interactions naturally cause children to look forward to receiving letters and maintaining relationships with the foster parents. A long-term donation would help to minimize suffering for the child caused by a short-lived or one-time donation.
Question: Can you trust such a small and unknown organization?
Answer: We are registered as a non-profit organization in both Sweden and Finland and we are working toward registration in Brazil. We are also working toward becoming acknowledged by the United Nations and governmental aid organizations. Please feel free to phone our office in Brazil during working hours for more information.
Question: How is my money used?
Answer: As all organizations, we have administrative costs. But as a small organization that is run by volunteers, we have lower administrative costs than larger organizations. Therefore, we can give more of your money directly to working with the children – helping them build a meaningful existence now and in the future. Children take classes such as music, geography, English, handicrafts and much more. Please read more about our activities under the headlines ACTIVITIES and NEWS.
Question: Can I send gifts instead of money?
Answer: We understand that it can seem easier to see what you are giving when you give something more concrete, instead of money. We accept gifts, though we do not recommend sending them. The process requires a lot of administrative work, the postage is expensive and the gifts are much cheaper to buy in Brazil. So we believe it is important to support local businesses in Brazil when we buy project materials.
